Overview: The team’s previous Johnson hires them again to retrieve another ‘treasure’, this time from somewhere in the Deep Lacuna.
The team receives a call from their ‘spectral’ Mr. Johnson after a few days. He’s found another coin, and needs them to move quickly to recover it. The only problem is, it seems to be somewhere out in the El Infierno… most likely under water. The group spends some of their recent windfall on scuba gear, and hires a boat. Mr. Johnson provides them with a spirit token… burn it, and a watcher will come to search for the coin.
The team hits the beach and starts their search. After many hours, the watcher homes in on a few buildings jutting up from the surf, right around the former location of LAX. The team notices movement among the windows, and a makeshift dock is setup. They bargain their way inside, and follow the spirit through the buildings, and down into the black water.
After a while the team emerges into some sort of air pocket. It seems that an old convention center somehow survived the Twins… or at least some air got trapped in it. They begin the search, but stumble upon some strange sights… there are locals, and they’re all out of their mind. The team avoids them, and moves deeper into the dark complex. They encounter, and break through, a barrier and into a parking garage. Their they find the coin, protected by a grotesque creature. They defeat it, and take the coin… as well as mounds of treasure. Against their better judgement, Rex loads himself up with credsticks, and other valuables. On the way out, he seems… off. Greed takes hold, and at points the team feels like they should stay and hunt for more riches, but they finally escape. The treasure turns to trash, and they realize they’ve been duped.
They return to the creature’s lair… a toxic spirit of some sort… and, now that they know what they’re dealing with, they dispatch it. They collect the coin, and return to Johnson for their reward.
