25 January 2074 –Sendai, Imperial Japan – “Nothing was stolen,” indicated a spokesperson for Evo, after a break in the East Wing of their Sendai Arcology. The break=in, which occurred quietly in the middle of the night, did not set off any alarms and no one was injured. The sole witness, a security guard found slumped to the ground at his post outside of a medical research storage freezer, says that he remembers hearing a footstep in front of him and a woman’s voice say something before everything went black. “We’ve searched all of our equipment and biological sample rosters for the wing,” which specializes in bio-medical research, particularly in the development of anti-viral drugs, “and found nothing missing,” said the spokesperson.

A search of electronic security revealed no logs of the intruders, either, leading some outside experts to suspect an inside job. “After all the trouble last year at Sapporo, the Evo really beefed up its security in the Empire,” said one security consultant, who asked to remain unnamed. “I find it hard to believe that anyone with some sort of inside help could pull something off so cleanly – without even leaving a record of what was taken.”

Evo disagrees. “We believe it was merely a prank. Our security is state of the art and for someone to exploit I to the level described, without leaving any trace whatsoever, is simply paranoia.”
