The first round of information is in from the field teams. First off, all intelligence indicates that the targets are no longer in the Hong Kong area. The crash of flight NN561 caused reverberations across the Hong Kong Shadows. Several of the target’s known associates have either fled the area, or gone to ground.

  • Both Benny Watanabe and Takeshi “Brother 9” Kaneshiro have removed themselves to Japan, where they are currently under the protection of the Wanabuchi-Rengo. They are untouchable at this time, however their previous associations indicate that they have no knowledge of the location of the fugitives.
  • Lei Oolong, an independent contractor often associated with Agent Vladimir, was brought in for questioning immediately. He was able to provide no insight regarding the location of the fugitives, and we are currently holding him for observation.
  • Mikael Petrov, local Brigadir for the Vory v Zakone, was very forthcoming during our discussion. Unfortunately, he confirmed our intel and has not had any dealings with them since the death of Ivan Romanov last December.
  • We are still searching for smuggler Jim McKee. It is believed that she currently out of the area on an extended job. Operatives have inserted themselves into the operations at 9×9 (a local rigger ‘hot spot’) and will pass along information once she is found.
  • A bartender from 9×9 provided information and evidence that the team booked passage to Bihar Sharif, India, but did not return to take passage. Operatives in Bangladesh are being tasked with investigation.
  • We are still combing the Hong Kong area for the runner known as ‘Tiger Bright’. He is a hacker with a long standing reputation throughout the Pacific Rim who was a known associate of the fugitives. He has either gone to ground, or fled the area. I recommend that we discontinue this line of investigation, due to budgetary concerns.

On a good note, the street assets that were recruited for canvasing Shenzhen have been turning up some results, even if they are minor. Circulation of holos of the fugitives have confirmed that they were seen in Yah Tien as 5 days ago attempting to gain passage west. They are doing a good job of staying off the grid, but they can’t last on cash alone for too long. I recommend initiating a wide net of listening SKs in key metropolitan areas between Macau and New Delhi for the next 30 days in case they turn up on the grid.
