Li Hu called with an opportunity in west Africa. A local client is setting up a meet in Ghana who needs ‘special assistance’. Due to the sensitive nature of international security, normal government issued permits do not apply… and I was a little concerned about the reputations of some of my teammates. It seemed my worries were for nothing, as we made it into Accra without incident.

Accra felt familiar, like I was returning to an old haunt. Corporate towers dominate the skyline there, and there’s a feeling of order to the place. The limo ride to our meeting went quickly, and soon we were at ‘Johnson’s’ house. Our contact’s name was Mugabe, a local who owns a chain of convenience stores. The orc businessman had a problem with Aztechnology’s plans to expand the Stuffer Shack chain into Accra, and wanted us to do something about it. He provided us with blueprints to Aztechnology’s main warehouse and enough explosives to take the place off the map.

We wasted some time at a club in the Aztech district in order to beat the curfew. I gambled a little, and won more than I lost. While playing baccarat I was approached by a wakambi masquerading as a rep from the tourism board… Facial Recognition and my old MI:6 database pegged him as a ‘Ken WIlliamson’, VP for Ares Aerospace. Whomever he was, he obviously recognized me and was feeling me out for some work. At the time it seemed like I might have found us a ride out of town…

When the curfew neared we headed out and took refuge in a local apartment building for a a few hours to lay out an alibi and keep off the streets before moving on to the target. Infiltrating the warehouse went smoothly. Apparently Tall Boy had a hacker on retainer or something, because whomever it was took the cameras out on the way in. Getting into the basement and planting the charge went off without a hitch. At the last moment the new guy, ‘Hawkeye’ stepped on some damn bubble-wrap. I’m not sure if that was what alerted the guards, but the place went into lockdown as we planted the explosives. We ended up having to fight our way out.

Ohran led the charge. The security guards out-geared us by tens of thousands of dollars. We came with only what we could carry openly… small caliber weapons and light armor. The guards were buttoned up in cutting-edge security armor and armed with Ares Alphas. Not a pretty fight. The tide turned after we waded into close range, though. We put them down quick and moved for the door.

We were about a block away when the response team showed up. Ohran blew the building, and that bought us enough time to lose the pursuit. The place went up like the Gunpowder Treason and Plot as we fled the scene. We hunkered down a few blocks away and discussed our options. It seemed like a pickup was the best option, so I played a hunch and called Williamson. He sent a car.

The pickup came fast and whisked us out of the district. We headed straight to the airport without incident and boarded a flight for Nairobi. I’m not sure exactly what we’re going to be doing there, but I have a feeling we’ll be going up the gravity well. Let’s just hope we’re not ‘out of the frying pan and into the fire’.
