In early November, the characters are again called on by Tokyo Joe. He arranges a meeting with a corporate Johnson, who needs some deniable assets with no ties to the local ‘scene’. The Johnson’s offer is simple. He wants the team to track down and ‘retrieve’ an individual who has recently returned to Hong Kong.
The team begins their legwork to track down the subject using contacts, matrix information, and spirits. They discover that the ‘individual’ they are tracking is a former Hong Kong runner, recently returned to the area. While they are putting feelers out they receive an anonymous message to meet at a local restaurant. They are met there by a Red Dragon member who ‘respectfully requests’ that they cease their search. The team politely extricates themselves from the conversation, and resumes their search. They track the subject down to a hotel, and make the grab. At the exchange, immediately after the team is paid, gunshots and spells take out the Johnson’s guards. The team piles into his limo and escapes, just as the Triad converges on the building.
- What’s Really Going On: Tiger Bright (the target) was a combat decker who ran the shadows just before/after the crash 2.0. He was run out of town by the Yellow Lotus triad after a run uncovered something detrimental to them. Now that the Yellow Lotus is gone, Tiger Bright has returned to tie up some loose ends. As Tiger Bright is a former company man (MCT), they are very interested in his return (and in bringing him back into the fold).
